IPL Auction 2026 Update – Preparations for the 19th season of the Indian Premier League have begun. The 2026 IPL auction is scheduled to take place on December 16, 2025, where many players are set to make a fortune. This time, 77 slots will be available in the auction. All franchises have ₹237.55 crore remaining.
A lot of money is expected to be spent on players at the auction. In the last mega auction, three players, including Rishabh Pant, were bid for over ₹20 crore. This time too, some of the players could prove to be the most expensive. IPL franchises have already begun brainstorming about which players could be the most expensive in the 2026 IPL auction.
Andre Russell Could Be the Most Expensive Player
West Indies’ Andre Russell has had a stellar performance in the Indian Premier League. In his historic career, he has scored 2651 runs and taken 123 wickets. Russell has played 12 IPL seasons for KKR. This time, KKR released Russell, dealing him a significant blow. He’s proven to be both a brilliant batsman and wicket-taker. He could attract a lot of money in the IPL auction.
Cameron Green could also attract a strong bid
There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Australia’s explosive player, Cameron Green. Teams could compete to acquire him in this IPL. Some cricket experts believe Green is likely to be in high demand. The Australian player is currently in excellent form. He recently scored a century against South Africa. Notably, he averages over 160 at the T20 level and also appears to be effective with his bowling.
David Miller could also be an expensive player
David Miller could also emerge as the most expensive player this season. Given his past performance, there’s likely to be a strong bid for him. On the other hand, last season, Venkatesh Iyer’s bidding reached ₹23.75 crore.
A young fast bowler like Mathisha Pathirana is also likely to attract a very high bid. CSK and KKR, on the other hand, have the most remaining funds. The addition of a finisher like David Miller to their squads could significantly strengthen their squads.
