Recently, EPFO ​​signed an agreement with India Post Payments. Under this partnership, pensioners will now be able to obtain digital certificates from the comfort of their homes. A life certificate is an Aadhaar-based digital document. This document serves as proof of the pensioner’s survival. Each digital life certificate is assigned a unique number. This certificate is easily accessible to the pension-issuing organisation, ensuring continued pension continuity.
According to a report, India Post Payments Bank will be able to provide this service through over 1.65 lakh post offices and over 3 lakh postal employees across the country. Employees will be able to go to every home and prepare digital life certificates. They will also have access to equipment that will include face and fingerprint biometric systems. Pensioners will receive the facility free of charge through the EPFO.

When can the certificate be submitted?

As per EPFO ​​rules, pensioners are required to submit a life certificate every year. Upon submission, pensioners receive pension benefits. Pensioners can submit their digital life certificates until November 30, 2025. This means today is the 5th, meaning they have 25 days left.

Pensioners can easily obtain a life certificate. It can be obtained from any nearby Life Certificate Centre. These centres are being operated in CSCs, banks, and government offices.
