The District Basic Education Officer has announced four consecutive days of holiday from November 3rd to November 6th for all government and private schools in the district. The holidays have been announced in keeping with the Ganga Snan Mela 2025 and Guru Nanak Jayanti. Schools will then reopen at their normal time from November 7th.

Impact of Ganga Snan Mela and Guru Nanak Jayanti
Like every year, the Ganga Snan Mela is being organised in the district. During this period, a large number of devotees arrive at the Sangam and ghats to bathe, disrupting traffic and school operations. In view of this, the Education Department has declared holidays on November 3 and 4. November 5 will be a public holiday across the state to commemorate Guru Nanak Jayanti. Government offices, banks, schools, and colleges will also remain closed on this day.
All schools from grades 1 to 8 will remain closed.
According to the order issued by the District Education Department, this order applies to all schools from grades 1 to 8, whether government, aided, or private. Teaching will also be suspended in council schools, recognised primary and upper primary schools in the city area. This decision has been taken to allow students and teachers the opportunity to participate in festivals and religious events.
Normal routine to resume from November 7
The district administration has clarified that from November 7, all schools will open at their regular time and teaching will resume as normal. The Education Department has appealed to parents and teachers to encourage children to utilise their time during the holidays, focusing on their studies and celebrating the festivals.
