Free LPG Cylinder: Big news for everyone. The government runs a variety of schemes to address the needs of the country’s citizens. One of the most prominent is the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which provides completely free LPG gas connections to poor families.
The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana aims to provide gas connections to every household in the country and protect women from smoke-related illnesses. Launched in 2016, the Ujjwala Yojana has provided LPG to millions of families through this scheme. Women who previously cooked on wood stoves have not only been relieved of this problem, but it has also had a positive impact on the environment. Now, the government is reinstating the benefit of free gas cylinders under this scheme.
Only families who fall below the poverty line or whose names are listed in the Socio-Economic Census (SECC) 2011 can benefit from this scheme. Additionally, those who belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) or Antyodaya (Antyodaya) cards are also eligible.
To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, you must have documents such as your Aadhaar card, ration card, bank passbook, and passport-size photo. Applications can be made both online and offline. To apply online, you need to visit the official LPG portal. To apply offline, you need to visit your nearest gas agency and fill out a form. Agency staff will verify your documents and, if found to be in order, issue a gas connection.
Under this scheme, beneficiaries receive a free LPG connection, a stove, and their first gas cylinder. In some cases, the government also provides discounts on refills. If you want to benefit from the Ujjwala scheme, don’t delay. Apply with the required documents.
