The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made some modifications to simplify the claim process starting from April 1, 2025. EPF is a saving scheme for salaried people that permits employees to partly or fully withdraw their funds after retirement or in a situation like a medical emergency.

Members can submit their PF withdrawal claims either offline or online. For an offline claim, an employee must submit the composite claim form (Aaadhaar or non-Aadhaar). The entire PF amount can be withdrawn only for unemployment or retirement.

How does it work?

For an online claim to be successfully filed by the employee:

The employee’s “Universal Account Number (UAN)” must be activated and the mobile number linked to their UAN must be functional. The employee’s Aadhaar, bank account details, IFS Code, and Permanent Account Number (PAN) must be linked with UAN and all must be updated in the EPFO database.

The process to file an online PF claim is as follows:

  • Log in to the EPFO website using UAN credentials
  • Check if the employee is eligible to withdraw PF
  • Select the claim form – 31, 19, 10C, or 10D
  • Authenticate the claim using the one-time password (OTP) sent to the employee’s mobile number linked to their Aadhaar

How to track the claim

  1. Anyone can check their PF withdrawal claim. The Process:
  2. Log in to the UAN portal site with your UAN and password.
  3. Click the ‘Online Services’ tab and Click the ‘Track Claim status’ icon.
  4. On the next page, enter your reference number to view claim status information.
