Renault Boreal
Renault has introduced its 7-seater SUV Boreal to overseas markets and will now be launched in India between 2026. The company will launch it directly against the Mahindra XUV700. Renault is known for its aggressive pricing strategy, so it is expected that Boreal will also launch at an affordable price.
Features
The features found in this SUV will not be less than any luxury car. This will include high-end features such as dual 10-inch screen setup (for an infotainment and for an instrument cluster), ambient lighting, memory seats with massage function for the driver, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof and the Harman Kardon sound system .
Engine and power
The international model features a 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine that generates power of 158bhp and torque of 270Nm. It has been paired with the DCT gearbox. However, the company has not yet revealed the engine combination of the upcoming version in India.
Nissan 7-Seater
Nissan is also bringing its 7-seater SUV to the segment, which will be based on its new Tekton SUV. The car will give a tough competition to the XUV700 as well as Boreal. Nissan is known for technology and safety in its cars, and the same USP will be seen in this new SUV.
Features and engines
It is expected to offer a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, ADAS features, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and premium interior. Talking about the engine, it will be equipped with a 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine, while the possibility of hybrid variants is also being raised. It may launch by the end of 2026.
Hyundai's new 7 Seater SUV
Hyundai already exists with 7-seater models such as Alcazar, but now the company is preparing to bring a brand new model to challenge the XUV700. Although the company has not yet informed its launch date, it is expected that it will hit Indian roads by 2027.
Design and features
This new SUV will be inspired by Creta in terms of design and can feature features such as a 12.9-inch large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, level-2 ADAS, connected car technology and Captain Seats in Second Row.
Engine and performance
Hyundai plans to deliver a 1.5-liter hybrid engine to its SUV. This engine will provide a great balance of both power and mileage. With hybrid technology, this SUV can prove to be a perfect option for long distance travelers.
Price and launch
Talking about the price, the price of all three SUVs is expected to be between 17 lakh to 27 lakh rupees (on-road, Mumbai). Renault Boreal may launch in mid-2026, Nissan 2026 and Hyundai's new SUV in 2027.
