Traffic rules have become very strict these days. Many vehicles get fined online for driving without a helmet, not wearing a seatbelt, or speeding. Cameras on roads and highways handle these checks automatically.
With better technology, managing these rules has become very easy. But sometimes, this technology also creates problems. Drivers often face fines even when they have all the required documents. Sometimes, wrongful fines are issued without any fault.
What should drivers do in such cases? Many feel they have no option but to pay the fine. In fact, there is no need to panic if you know the rules. You can easily file a complaint online or by phone. For example, if you suddenly receive a wrong fine for your car, you should act immediately. Let’s see the correct process to handle it.
How to File an Online Traffic Complaint
- First, visit the official website eChallan.parivahan.gov.in and click on the ‘Complaint’ tab. Fill in your name, phone number, challan number, and other details.
- Next, select the correct option for your problem from the drop-down menu. After filling all details, click ‘Submit’.
- If you find the online process difficult, you can also file a complaint by:
- Sending an email to the State Traffic Police
- Calling the traffic control room
- Contacting the Traffic Commissioner or SP Traffic of your area
You can also use the Traffic App. Go to the Gravity option in the app, click the plus or minus sign, and fill in your name, number, email ID, challan number, and chassis number. Fill the captcha and click Submit. Your complaint will be registered, and the authorities will take appropriate action.
