Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir turned 44 on Tuesday (October 14). Several former players extended their birthday wishes to Gambhir. Among those who congratulated him were Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Harbhajan Singh, and Yuvraj Singh. Gambhir also responded generously to the congratulations of his teammates.

In the video posted by Yuvraj, the song “Arjan Valley” from the movie Animal is playing in the background. Yuvraj wrote in the post, “Happy Birthday to the one who was ‘serious’ while playing for the Indian team and is even more ‘serious’ now while coaching! On December 4, 2018, Gautam Gambhir announced his retirement from international cricket. His last Test match for India was against England in Rajkot in 2016. Gambhir scored 4,154 runs in 58 Test matches, averaging 41.95 and scoring nine centuries.

Gautam Gambhir played 147 ODIs, scoring 5,238 runs at an average of 39.68. He scored 11 centuries in ODIs. He scored 932 runs in 37 T20 Internationals, including seven half-centuries. Under Gambhir’s captaincy, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) twice (2012 & 2014).
