BMW made history in India’s luxury car market in 2025. Between January and September 2025, the company sold 11,978 units, a 13% increase compared to the previous year. This growth was not solely due to the quality of the cars or brand value, but also due to the growing demand for electric vehicles and the popularity of long-wheelbase sedans and premium SUVs. Furthermore, GST 2.0 reforms and festive offers have made purchasing easier for customers.

Growth
BMW’s biggest achievement in 2025 was strong electric vehicle (EV) sales. BMW and Mini together sold 2,509 electric vehicles in the first nine months of the year, a 246% increase compared to the previous year. The best-selling electric car was the BMW iX1, which gained tremendous popularity among customers.
Electric vehicles now account for 21% of the company’s total sales. The company is also offering benefits such as BMW Destination Charging, Smart e-Routing, and free wallbox installation to its electric vehicle customers to further strengthen the charging infrastructure.
Long-Wheelbase Models
BMW’s long-wheelbase (LWB) models contributed significantly to the company’s growth. Sales in this segment increased by 169% to 5,720 units. This includes models such as the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and iX1. Most notably, the BMW 3 Series has become the most popular sedan in this segment, while the BMW 7 Series remains the country’s most luxurious flagship sedan. The performance, comfort, and premium features of these models have greatly impressed Indian customers.
