New Delhi: The Bihar Assembly elections are gaining momentum as the nomination process has begun. The nomination process has just begun for the seats being contested in the first phase. Meanwhile, Prashant Kishore, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, made a major announcement on Saturday, hinting at his candidacy for the Assembly elections.
Prashant Kishore stated that he may contest from the Raghopur seat. This seat, considered a stronghold of the RJD and Lalu Prasad Yadav, has long been held by the Lalu Prasad Yadav family. He also reminded Tejashwi Yadav of Rahul Gandhi’s defeat in Amethi in 2019.
What did Prashant Kishore say?
Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore stated that he is going to Raghopur to meet with the people there and seek their opinions. He further stated that the party’s Central Committee will meet tomorrow, Sunday, where a decision will be made regarding Raghopur and other seats. Prashant Kishor has also issued a warning to Tejashwi Yadav, reminding him of Rahul Gandhi.
He said that if he contests from Raghopur, Tejashwi Yadav will have to contest from other seats. He said that Tejashwi Yadav will face the same fate as Rahul Gandhi in Amethi. He was referring to Rahul Gandhi’s defeat at the hands of BJP leader Smriti Irani in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Raghopur seat has been a stronghold of Lalu Yadav.
The Raghopur assembly seat in Bihar has been a stronghold of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family. Lalu Prasad Yadav won from here twice. His wife, Rabdi Devi, was also elected from this seat three times. Tejashwi Yadav has also won from Raghopur twice. Lalu’s son won from here in 2015 and 2020.
How many seats has Jan Suraj fielded candidates for?
Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, has released his first list of candidates. Jan Suraj has announced the names of 51 candidates in its first list. In this, it has attempted to reach out to all castes and religions. The list includes 11 candidates from the backward classes, 17 from the most backward classes, 9 from the minority community, and the remaining candidates from the general category.
When will the votes be cast?
The first phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly elections will be held on November 6th. Voting for the second phase will take place on November 11th, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14, 2025. The Chief Election Commissioner announced the election schedule on October 6th.
