Senior citizens in the capital, Delhi, may have to wait a few more days for their pension. The online application process for this scheme is expected to resume after October 2nd. A large number of people are trying to apply, but their applications are not being accepted. All preparations are being made by the concerned department, and the Delhi government may announce the application date soon.
A new pension was announced for 50,000 senior citizens
On September 17th, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, several important projects were inaugurated and announcements were made in Delhi. This included the announcement of a new pension for 50,000 new senior citizens. Since then, a large number of senior citizens have been attempting to apply on the Delhi government website, but their applications are not being accepted due to technical reasons.
Website Changes and New Application Process
Sources close to the Delhi government say that some necessary changes are being made to the website to accept applications for this pension scheme. After these changes, people will be able to easily apply online by visiting the e-District Portal. Pension will be initiated only after document verification.
According to sources, a total of 50,000 applications will be accepted for the pension scheme. These applications can be distributed evenly across Delhi’s 70 Assembly Constituencies. This will ensure that approximately 650 to 700 applications will be accepted from each Assembly Constituency, so that eligible senior citizens from all areas can benefit.
Applications for this pension scheme will be submitted only through the e-District portal, and all documents must be uploaded online. If any deficiencies are found in the documents, applicants can visit the office and provide the correct information to the concerned official.
How much senior citizen pension is received
Under the Old Age Pension Scheme in Delhi, senior citizens aged 60 to 69 currently receive a pension of ₹2,000 per month. Those over 70 receive a pension of ₹2,500 per month. The Delhi government aims to provide financial assistance to financially vulnerable senior citizens. The Delhi government may consider further increasing this pension amount in the future.
