Driving License: Traffic rules are created for safety, but nobody pays attention to them. Repeatedly breaking rules will result in serious trouble. Fines are not the only thing. If challans accumulate, your driving license can be revoked as well. This makes it all the more important to comply with traffic laws for every driver.
Various Rules in Each State
Every state has its own rules regarding traffic violations. In some states, if a driver receives three consecutive challans, his license will be cancelled. In other states, five challans are the limit. That means repeated errors raise the risk of losing the license altogether. Traffic police and road cameras both monitor violations. That is the reason a single car can sometimes amass several challans without the driver even knowing it.
What If License Is Cancelled
If your challans exceed the limit, the driving license can be cancelled. After cancellation, you cannot drive legally on the road. For driving again, you have to apply for a new license. In most cases, you must also visit the court for permission for a new license. If you ignore challans or delay their payments, things can get even worse.
How to Renew Driving License Online
If your license expired, lost its validity, or got cancelled, you can apply online for renewal. For this, you have to visit parivahan.gov.in. On the main page, look for online services and choose driving license related services. Select your state from the list provided to you. You will get the option to apply for renewal after this. Fill the necessary details, upload documents if necessary, and pay the cost. In a few states, uploading photo and signature is also necessary. Once the process gets over, you can track your application status online.
Offline Process at RTO
Vehicle owners and drivers can also go to their closest RTO to renew or obtain a fresh license. In case of a new license, fill Form 2. For a duplicate license, complete Form LLD. Present the necessary documents and remit the relevant charges. Biometric testing and examination can be necessary in certain situations. For individuals over 40 years, a Form 1A medical fitness certificate is mandatory. If you are applying for a replacement license, a copy of the FIR will also be requested.
