8th Pay Commission Updates: Lakhs of government employees are eyeing January 2026. According to media reports, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be implemented soon. According to a report, the basic salary of employees is expected to increase by 30 to 34 per cent during the 8th Pay Commission. This can directly benefit about one crore employees and pensioners. The 7th Pay Commission, which came into effect in 2016, recommended a 14.3% increase in the basic salary. However, the fitment factor was 2.57.
