8th Pay Commission: The Modi government at the Centre has approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission in January 2025, whose implementation is eagerly awaited by all employees and pensioners. As soon as the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, approximately one crore employees and pensioners will benefit, which will prove to be good news.
After the implementation of the new salary, the salaries of employees will be increased based on the fitment factor, and everyone is expected to benefit. The fitment factor can likely be increased to 2.86. If the fitment factor is increased to this extent, then how much will the salary increase? You can find the details in the calculation below. By understanding the calculation, all your confusion will end.
How much will the salary of central employees increase?
As soon as the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, a significant increase can be expected in the salaries of central employees. The fitment factor can likely be increased from 2.57 to 2.86. At present, the minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000. As soon as the new fitment factor is implemented, a decision can be taken to increase the minimum basic salary to Rs 51,480.
The final decision will depend on the newly appointed members of the commission. This salary will comprise all allowances. Then, the benefit of the DA hike will also be available every six months. Currently, employees contribute 10 per cent of their basic salary and dearness allowance to the NPS. This contribution may increase after the salary revision is implemented.
When can the new pay commission be implemented?
The central government may delay the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. The government has not yet constituted the 8th Pay Commission. The 8th Pay Commission is likely to be formally constituted in July. If it occurs, it can be implemented as of January 1, 2027. According to tradition, a new pay commission is implemented every ten years.
On December 31, 2025, the 7th Pay Commission will complete ten years. If this tradition is followed, the 8th Pay Commission will take effect in 2026. But due to non-formation, its hope is entirely over.
