RRB ALP 2025 Recruitment: Railway Recruitment Board has released the recruitment for Assistant Loco Pilot in 2025 with 9970 vacancies. Now, the application process is opened and will be accepted until May 11. This year, one significant alteration has drawn attention—candidates will not receive the age relaxation advantage offered in the previous recruitment. Below are all the crucial details that candidates need to keep in mind before applying.
Vacancy Details and Important Dates
The process of applying for RRB ALP Recruitment 2025 began on April 12 and will go on until May 11 via the official website rrbapply.gov.in. This year, 9970 vacancies have been notified for the Assistant Loco Pilot position. Those who lost out on earlier opportunities now have a second chance to apply, provided they satisfy stern eligibility and medical requirements.
Trade-Wise Recruitment and Eligibility
Recruitment will be carried out for various trades like Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Millwright, Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanic (Radio-TV), Electronics Mechanic, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman, Tractor Mechanic, Armature Coil Winder, Mechanic Diesel, Heat Engine, Turner, Machinist, and Refrigeration and AC Mechanic. Candidates should be Class 10 pass and should possess an ITI certificate or three years’ diploma in the relevant trades. A degree of relevant engineering will also be accepted.
Medical and Vision Requirements
Applicants should have very strict vision requirements. Without glasses, they should have 6/6 far vision and 0.6, 0.6 near vision. Candidates with poor vision will not be allowed to apply.
Age Limit and Relaxation Rules
The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum is 30 years as of July 1, 2025. SC/ST candidates will get a relaxation of five years, and OBC candidates will get three years. But this year, the extra three-year age relaxation provided in 2024 has been withdrawn. The relaxation last year was a one-time offer as a result of the COVID-19 backlog.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
The shortlisting process involves various stages—First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, Computer-Based Aptitude Test, Document Verification, and Medical Examination. Candidates must pass only the first stage CBT to go further. There are two components in the second stage—Part A and Part B with their own passing marks.
First Stage CBT Overview
The initial stage CBT will be a one-hour test consisting of 75 questions on Maths, Reasoning, General Science, and GK/Current Affairs. General candidates require 40%, OBC and SC require 30%, and ST candidates require 25%.
Second Stage CBT Details
This stage will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration. Part A will consist of 100 questions to be solved within 90 minutes and the same qualifying percentage as in Stage I. Part B will consist of 75 questions from the trade syllabus and should be finished within 60 minutes. Every candidate needs to obtain at least 35% in Part B.
Final Stages of Selection
The candidates who qualify both Parts A and B will be called for the Aptitude Test. All candidates have to secure a minimum of 42 marks without any relaxation. The candidates qualifying in this round will proceed with document verification.
Application Fees and Refund Policy
Application fee is Rs 500. Candidates who are appearing in CBT 1 will be refunded Rs 400. SC, ST, female, EBC, and Divyang candidates will pay Rs 250 and will get a refund of Rs 500 after appearing in the examination.
