Recently strange incidents of electricity theft were reported in Ambala, in which people were stealing not from wires but by installing a special type of device in the electricity meter
In such a situation, the department has tightened the noose on these people by conducting raids. Giving more information, Sukhbir, XEN of the Electricity Department, said that till now electricity theft has been caught from about 60 people and a fine of about 50 lakhs has been collected from them.
He said that at present FIR has been registered against 62 people who stole electricity and this action will continue in future as well. He told that this time electricity theft was being done in a strange way.
In which electricity was being stolen by installing a device inside the meter so that no one would suspect. When the officials of the electricity department came to know about this, a raid was conducted on the spot and challans were issued to such defaulters.
It sounds like the electricity theft in question involved a sophisticated method where a device was installed inside the meters, allowing individuals to steal electricity without being detected. This technique made it difficult for the authorities to immediately notice the theft. Once the electricity department officials discovered this method, they took swift action by conducting a raid and issuing fines (challans) to those involved.
