The Delhi government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is set to introduce the Mahila Samridhi Yojna aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged women. This initiative will provide eligible women with a monthly financial aid of Rs 2500. Media sources suggest that the scheme may launch on March 8, 2025, coinciding with International Women’s Day, and registration is expected to begin on the same day.
An official involved in the process shared with the Indian Express that multiple meetings have taken place to finalize the scheme’s details. A cabinet note is anticipated to be ready by March 7, after which it will be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval. This initiative was one of the key topics discussed during the first cabinet meeting convened by the newly elected Chief Minister and her Council of Ministers.
The Delhi government plans to directly deposit this financial assistance into the bank accounts of the women who qualify for the scheme.
Eligibility criteria
Annual household income should be less than 300,000 rupees.
Not qualified to pay income tax

The Mahila Samridhi Yojana was one of the commitments made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in their election manifesto before the Delhi Assembly elections.
How to sign up for Mahila Samridhi Yojana?
The Delhi government is setting up an online portal for the registration process. The IT department is also creating a specialized software to verify applications, ensuring that only eligible women benefit from the program. This initiative is similar to other programs in BJP-led states, like the Ladli Behna Yojana in Madhya Pradesh and the Ladki Behen Yojana in Maharashtra. While the official list of required documents for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana hasn’t been released yet, it’s expected that you’ll need an Aadhaar card, ration card, proof of address, and a registered mobile number.
The online portal will connect applications to Aadhaar cards and will include information like the applicant’s name, address, and bank account details. The system will check if the applicant is a taxpayer or receiving other government aid. Applications that don’t meet the requirements will be turned down.
How many women can benefit?
The Delhi government estimates that between 1.5 million and 2 million women will qualify for the scheme. The IT department is working on gathering data from various departments to make the eligibility verification process smoother. Registration is likely to happen at Chhatrasal Stadium, where some beneficiaries might receive their first payment on the launch day.
