Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: Discover How Much Your Daughter Could Receive on a ₹5000 Annual Deposit

The Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, launched by the Central Government, aims to secure a bright future for daughters across the country. This scheme has become one of the most popular and largest in the nation, with monthly investments made in the names of millions of daughters. Additionally, the scheme offers the flexibility of annual deposits. Recently, the government issued an important update: only legal guardians can now open accounts under this scheme, and it is mandatory to register the legal guardian’s name for existing accounts as well.

However, the scheme has the facility of deposit on an annual basis. Recently, the Central Government released a new update in this scheme. Only legal guardians will now be able to open accounts in the names of daughters in this scheme, and it will be mandatory to register the legal guardian’s name in the names of daughters who already have accounts.

How much will you get on depositing Rs 5000 annually?

For your information, let us tell you that in the Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, there is a rule to deposit a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh annually and a minimum of Rs 250. If you deposit Rs 5000 every year, then an amount of about Rs 416 is deposited every month. If the daughter is 5 years old and Rs 5000 is deposited every year under Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme in the year 2024, then the total amount deposited will be Rs 75000.

The amount is deposited over 15 years, but the scheme matures after 21 years. Upon maturity, an interest rate of 8.2% is applied to the total deposit amount. Therefore, a scheme started in 2024 will reach completion in 2045, at which point a total amount of Rs 2,30,919 will be credited to the daughter’s account, including both the principal deposit and accrued interest.

There are strict rules for investment

This scheme for daughters has special rules for opening an account. Only 2 daughters in a family can get the benefit. However, the rule is different in the case of twins. Along with this, the age of the daughter should not be more than 10 years. Currently, crores of daughters in the country are getting benefits under this scheme. If you also want to open an SSY account in the name of your daughter, then you can go to the nearest post office or bank and get information.
