8th Pay Commission: Big news for central employees. The 8th Pay Commission is actively holding its meetings and has scheduled sessions in Mumbai for October 22nd and 23rd, 2026. Central government bodies, organizations, institutions, and unions are welcome to book meetings to engage with the commission on relevant matters.
As per the announcement from the Ministry of Finance released on September 21st, interested parties can apply for meeting slots by completing the online form before the October 10, 2026 deadline.
Participants will need to provide the Commission with a unique Memo ID that they’ll receive upon submitting their memorandum. The specific venue details and full schedule for the Mumbai discussions will be shared at a later date.
This Mumbai engagement is part of the Commission’s broader effort to consult with stakeholders. Earlier, the 8CPC had planned a Bengaluru visit scheduled for October 7th and 8th, where organizations and associations were invited to connect with the Commission. The application deadline for the Bengaluru visit was September 18th.
The commission has also updated its consultant recruitment guidelines. According to an office memorandum from August 11, it will recruit consultants across three tiers—senior consultant, consultant, and consultant (young professional)—with a cap of two, five, and 16 positions respectively.
The updated eligibility requirements call for a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience for Senior Consultants, six years for Consultants, and two years for Young Professionals. The maximum age limits are set at 45, 40, and 32 years respectively, with August 1, 2026 as the reference date.
The 8CPC welcomes applications from candidates with expertise in areas like human resources or industrial relations, legal matters, and technology/data analysis, provided they meet the specified experience criteria. Priority consideration will be given to those with background in pay or compensation structures, benefits packages, and organizational staffing matters.

Bengaluru (October 7-8, 2026): The 8th Central Pay Commission will visit Bengaluru on October 7-8 (Wednesday-Thursday). The deadline for appointments for the Bengaluru meeting is September 18.
