The company is developing this Nexon under the codename ‘Project Garud,’ with a launch expected in 2027. Notably, the new Nexon will not merely feature a fresh look; it will undergo significant changes to its structure, cabin, and engine. The 2027 Tata Nexon is expected to receive major design and cabin updates. While petrol and CNG engine options will certainly be retained, a diesel option might also be introduced.

Design

The Nexon was first introduced in 2017, followed by major updates in 2020 and 2023. Now, after a decade, Tata is redesigning the Nexon with a completely new approach.

Cabin and Technology

The new-generation Nexon is expected to see significant cabin changes. Tata Motors aims to offer more luxurious and premium interiors in its upcoming models, and the 2027 Nexon will feature a completely new dashboard.

The new SUV is likely to come with a larger infotainment system, enhanced connected-car features, and advanced digital capabilities. The cabin layout may also differ from the current model, potentially making it a superior choice for compact SUV buyers.

Platform

There is also considerable speculation regarding the platform for the new Nexon. It is believed that Tata might retain the existing X1 architecture while implementing major structural modifications. However, some reports suggest the use of the company’s new ATLAS platform, which could essentially be a heavily modified version of the X1 platform.

Petrol and CNG Engines

Regarding the engines, the new Nexon retains the current model’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which delivers 120 hp of power and 170 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre diesel engine generates 115 hp and 260 Nm of torque.

Additionally, the Tata Nexon offers a turbo-CNG option that produces about 100 hp and 170 Nm of torque. Retaining the CNG option in the new generation could benefit Tata.
