SBI Issues Major Downtime Alert Today: UPI, IMPS, YONO, Net Banking to Stay Closed for 15 Minutes

SBI Major Service

SBI, the country’s largest public sector bank, has issued an important “downtime alert” for its customers. Several key transactional services will be temporarily disrupted today due to scheduled maintenance, which may cause inconvenience to customers during digital transactions. SBI shared this information on its social media platforms and apologized for the inconvenience. This short break is essential for a smooth digital banking experience.

SBI has taken this step due to scheduled maintenance activities, which all banks conduct periodically. Several important updates will be made to the system during this short 15-minute period. The primary goal of these updates is to make the system more secure and faster, ensuring a smooth and seamless digital experience for customers. Therefore, account holders are advised to complete any necessary work before or after the downtime.

Which digital services will be affected?

The following critical services will be unavailable for just 15 minutes, from 3:00 AM to 3:15 AM today. All major transactional services, including UPI (Unified Payments Interface), IMPS (Immediate Payment Service), YONO (YONO App), Internet Banking, NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer), and RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement), will be disrupted during this period.

Customers may experience difficulties in transacting during this period. However, services will resume as normal after the scheduled maintenance is completed. The best part is that the maintenance work is being carried out during off-peak hours to minimize inconvenience to customers.

Options Available to Avoid Inconvenience

Other services will not be affected during the scheduled maintenance. SBI has advised customers to use UPI Lite and ATMs to avoid inconvenience.

UPI Lite allows customers to make small transactions without an internet connection. The per-transaction limit is ₹1,000, and the total wallet balance can be up to ₹5,000. Transactions up to ₹10,000 per day are allowed, making this service suitable for emergencies. Additionally, customers can easily withdraw cash from ATMs.
