Delhi Bans Fuel for Vehicles Without Pollution Certificate – Details Here

No Fuel for Vehicles Without Valid PUC

The government has taken a big step to control air pollution in Delhi. From April 1,vehicles that do not have proof that they are not polluting the environment will not be allowed to run on the roads. Not only this,if such vehicles reach the petrol pump to refuel, they will not even be given fuel. Do you also want to know how important these rules are for you? So let’s know.

Know,what is the new rule

Currently, some petrol pumps in Delhi have government-authorized testing cabins, which issue Pollution Control (PUC) certificates. Vehicle owners have to get their vehicle checked every year and get the PUC certificate renewed. Now to make this system more strict,a special device is being installed at all petrol pumps in Delhi.

This device will identify vehicles whose PUC certificate has expired. Such vehicles will be refused fuel. There are about 500 petrol pumps in Delhi, where this system is being implemented. When a vehicle not complying with emission norms comes for refuelling, the system will declare it a “defaulter” and petrol pump workers will refuse to give fuel to that vehicle.

How will it be identified

This new system is connected to a central database, which will check the status of the vehicle based on its registration number. If the vehicle’s PUC certificate has expired, petrol pump workers will be informed about it.

Special focus on 15-year-old vehicles

The Delhi government has recently announced that vehicles older than 15 years will not be given fuel. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that a special team will be formed to identify such vehicles. He said,“We are installing devices at petrol pumps that will identify vehicles older than 15 years and they will be refused fuel.”

It is worth noting that a policy is already in place in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR),under which diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years cannot run on the roads.
