
Heavy Rain Alert: The Southwest Monsoon has become fully active across the country once again. The IMD has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in several states across North, East, Northeast, and West India over the coming days. Rainfall has been ongoing for quite some time in several states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, and Nagaland. State governments and local administrations have ramped up disaster management preparations.
Regarding the weather in Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon has picked up pace again; rainfall has been continuing in several districts of the state since Sunday night. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain starting Monday and has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for the entire state. An Orange Alert remains in effect until July 22 due to anticipated heavy rainfall, and similar weather conditions are expected to persist for the next four to five days.
Warning of Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms in Up
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura, Pilibhit, Sitapur, Bahraich, Basti, Azamgarh, Gonda, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Etawah, Firozabad, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Deoria, and Gorakhpur. An alert regarding strong winds has also been issued for these districts.
Orange Alert for Heavy Rain
An Orange Alert for heavy rain has been issued for Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, and surrounding districts. Meanwhile, a ‘Yellow Alert’ for heavy rain has been issued for several districts, including Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Gonda, Hardoi, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Bijnor.
Rain Warning for Bihar
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is forecast for Bhabhua, Gopalganj, Rohtas, and West Champaran. Meanwhile, a heavy rain warning has been issued for specific blocks within the districts of Patna, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Buxar, Gaya, Jehanabad, Nawada, and Samastipur.
Orange Alert for Rain in These Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain, effective since morning, covering 386 blocks across 30 districts. In addition to Patna, these districts include Araria, Arwal, Katihar, Khagaria, Gaya, Gopalganj, Jamui, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Nawada, Nalanda, West Champaran, East Champaran, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Banka, Bhojpur, Lakhisarai, Vaishali, Sheikhpura, Samastipur, Saharsa, Saran, Siwan, and Sitamarhi.
‘Yellow Alert’ Issued for Mumbai
Continuous rainfall has been occurring in Mumbai since Saturday night. Rain has been recorded in Andheri, Bandra, Vile Parle, Dadar, and several parts of the central suburbs. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, specifically due to anticipated heavy rainfall in the western and central suburbs.
Rain Forecast for Delhi-NCR
An alert has been issued for Delhi-NCR, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected from Monday to Wednesday. This is expected to bring relief to residents from the weekend’s humidity and heat. Strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning are also predicted during this period.
Rain Warning for North-Eastern States
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, forecasting rain throughout the week. A heavy rain alert has already been issued for Guwahati. Meanwhile, issues such as landslides, flash floods, and road closures are being reported in several areas of Nagaland.
