2026 Volkswagen Virtus Facelift: The Volkswagen Virtus facelift has once again been spotted undergoing testing. This time, the new sedan appeared on the Mumbai-Pune Motorway, where the changes to its exterior were more clearly visible than before. Volkswagen is likely to launch this updated Virtus around the festive season. New spy shots of the Volkswagen Virtus facelift offer a glimpse of its revised front and rear designs. The new sedan is expected to feature updates and an 8-speed automatic gearbox paired with the 1.0 TSI engine.
Volkswagen Virtus Facelift Appearance
In the latest test run, the new Virtus sported significantly less camouflage than before. The front and rear sections remain concealed, indicating that the most significant design changes will occur in these areas.
Regarding the front profile, the bonnet and the sedan’s overall shape appear similar to the current model. However, the headlamps, grille, and bumper are camouflaged, indicating that the facelift model will likely feature revised LED lighting, a new grille, and a redesigned bumper.
Rear Design
More noticeable changes are visible at the rear of the Virtus facelift. While the boot and bumper are fully camouflaged, the new LED pattern within the tail lamps is clearly visible.
The latest spy shots reveal two horizontal LED elements inside the tail lamps. However, it remains unclear whether Volkswagen will integrate them into a connected lighting setup.
As for the side profile, no major changes are expected; the doors, window line, roof, and overall silhouette appear very similar to the current Virtus.
Engine Options
The Volkswagen Virtus facelift is expected to retain its current petrol engine options. It may continue to offer the 1.0-litre TSI engine, delivering approximately 115 PS of power and 178 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, for those seeking higher performance, the 1.5-litre TSI engine—producing around 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque—is also expected to remain available.
The 1.5-litre TSI engine is expected to be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. This setup is already available in the performance-orientated variants of Virtus and is expected to be retained in the facelift model.
Cabin
The Virtus facelift is also expected to receive technology and convenience upgrades for its interior. These could include an upgraded version of the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an updated infotainment system.
Additionally, a 360-degree camera and other convenience features are likely to be added. However, Volkswagen will reveal full details about which features will be available in specific variants only at the time of launch.
Launch Timeline
Volkswagen has not yet officially announced the exact launch date for the facelift. However, the ongoing testing and mid-life update of the Skoda Slavia suggest that Volkswagen is expected to launch the updated Virtus next month, around the festive season.
