Vladimir Putin’s Car: At first glance, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s car might appear to be just a large luxury limousine. However, its true distinction lies not in its appearance but in its safety features. The Aurus Senat Limousine is the vehicle most prominently associated with Vladimir Putin. It is a high-security luxury limousine manufactured in Russia, boasting features ranging from heavy armour plating to a powerful V8 hybrid engine.
Aurus Senat Limousine
Vladimir Putin’s vehicle is the Aurus Senat Limousine. The Russian research agency NAMI developed it under the ‘Kortezh’ project. Its design is imposing and robust, blending luxury with elements reminiscent of classic Russian automotive styling.
Notably, the Aurus Senat is often called the “Russian Rolls-Royce” because of its elongated body, large grille, and magnificent interior. However, its defining characteristic is safety, not just design.
Safety
Safety is the paramount feature of a president’s car. The Aurus Senat incorporates armour plating, a bulletproof body, and reinforced glass. It is also equipped with run-flat tyres; the advantage here is that the car can continue to drive for a certain distance even after a tyre sustains damage. Additionally, the vehicle features an air-filtering system designed to purify external air.
Engine
For performance, the Aurus Senat is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 hybrid engine that produces about 598 horsepower.
The Aurus Senat does not focus solely on security; the cabin is designed with a strong emphasis on luxury and comfort. The car combines a robust exterior shell with premium interior comfort. Reports indicate a price tag of around ₹5.5 crore or higher.
Putin’s Previous Car
Before the Aurus Senat, Vladimir Putin used the Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard Pullman. This imported high-security limousine was a long-standing part of the Russian President’s motorcade. The Mercedes-Benz S 600 Guard Pullman was exceptionally safe and luxurious for its time. However, after adopting the Aurus Senat, Russia began using the domestically produced Aurus Senat for the President.
