Meanwhile Another stone-throwing incident has occurred on the Vande Bharat Express (train number 26505) during its journey from Khajuraho to Varanasi near Khurhand railway station on September 29th at approximately 5:30 p.m. The thrown stone struck a window in coach C/4, causing the glass near seats 23 and 24 to shatter, leading to widespread fear among passengers. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the event. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) post in Banda has filed a case against unidentified individuals under sections 153 and 147 of the Railway Act.
The investigation conducted by RPF revealed that the culprit was a 12-year-old juvenile from Nandana village in the Girwan police station area of Banda district, the son of the late Raju Verma. The RPF team apprehended the juvenile on the same day, and he admitted to throwing stones at the train during questioning. Due to his age, he was released on bail after necessary procedures, and the Juvenile Court was notified on October 1st. It was mentioned that an ongoing awareness campaign aims to deter stone-pelting incidents.
Previous stone-pelting cases have been reported in Banda. An incident of stone pelting at the Vande Bharat train is not unprecedented.
