Uttarakhand School Holiday Tomorrow: Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across many parts of the country. Persistent rainfall has led to waterlogging and flood-like conditions in several states. Amidst this, the IMD, in a weather bulletin issued on August 31, warned of heavy rainfall over the next two days in Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The question now arises: will schools remain closed tomorrow, September 1, due to the rain?
While the IMD has issued a rainfall warning, no official order has been issued so far to close schools in the affected states or across the country. Any decision regarding school closures will be based on orders issued by the respective state governments or district administrations.

According to the IMD, conditions for heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely to persist in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 1. Additionally, thunderstorms and lightning strikes are forecast in parts of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh between August 31 and September 1. Very heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in Bihar and Jharkhand during this period. Odisha may also experience very heavy rainfall at some locations on September 1.
Will schools be closed?
The IMD press release contains no directive to close schools on September 1. However, if the situation regarding rain or waterlogging becomes severe in any specific district, the local administration may issue a separate order declaring a school holiday. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are predicted for parts of Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh between August 31 and September 1.
