UPI: Good news for UPI users. Transferring money to India has become more convenient for Indians residing in Qatar. Qatari customers can now send funds directly to a UPI-enabled bank account in India using a new digital remittance service. This service offers a quick and digital solution for cross-border money transfers between the two nations.
As per reports, the Qatar-India Postal Remittance Service has been introduced, enabling direct money transfers from select Qatar Post locations to India. This feature is powered by PosTransfer, utilizing UPI technology. The goal of this new service is to enhance the speed, safety, and convenience of sending remittances from Qatar to India.

Recently launched new UPI remittance service
According to reports, the UPI-based PosTransfer service was launched on August 15th. It was developed in partnership with Qatar Post, India Post, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Interconnection Platform (UPU-IP), and NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL). Qatari customers can utilize this service by visiting participating Qatar Post outlets.
How can you send money?
To send money, customers must first visit a Qatar Post outlet. There, they will need to provide the recipient’s UPI ID along with other required identification details in India. However, the recipient must first enable the option to receive foreign inward remittances through their UPI app. Once this feature is activated, the remittance will be directly credited to their UPI-enabled bank account.
What is the sending limit?
The minimum remittance limit for a single transaction through this service is QAR 10, while the maximum is QAR 4,000. This means that you can send a minimum of QAR 10 (Qatar Riyal) and a maximum of QAR 4,000 through this remittance service. However, the maximum amount in Indian Rupees per transaction is INR 100,000. A fixed service charge of QAR 15 will apply to each transaction.
Facilitating Indian communities
It’s known that a large number of Indians live in Qatar, and many of them regularly send money to their families in India. The new postal remittance service could prove very useful for these individuals. Qatar Post’s extensive network will provide people with a readily available option for sending money. According to reports, India Post is also working with postal operators in other countries to establish such remittance corridors. This could lead to more options for Indians living abroad to send money to India via UPI in the future.
