Upcoming Hybrid Cars in India – Hyundai Creta Hybrid to Kia Carnival Hybrid

Upcoming Hybrid Cars in India: There is a growing demand in India for vehicles that offer higher mileage and lower fuel consumption. In response to this, Hyundai and Kia are preparing to add new hybrid vehicles to their respective portfolios. Their upcoming lineup includes two midsize SUVs, a new 7-seater SUV, and a premium MPV. Let’s take a detailed look at these four upcoming models.

Hyundai Creta Hybrid

The Hyundai Creta is one of the best midsize SUVs in India. The company is now preparing to introduce a strong-hybrid engine option in the next generation of the model. The new Creta is expected to feature a hybrid variant alongside its petrol and diesel engine options. However, the company has not yet disclosed details regarding the engine or the launch timeline.

The Creta Hybrid is expected to feature a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The next-generation Kia Seltos Hybrid might also share this same system. The new Hyundai Creta Hybrid is likely to compete against the strong-hybrid variants of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hybrid.

Kia Seltos Hybrid

The Kia Seltos Hybrid is another SUV set to arrive in the Indian market, with an expected launch around 2027. Kia unveiled the global version of this model at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, featuring a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid engine capable of producing 178 hp. It remains to be confirmed whether the Indian-spec model will feature this same engine or if the company will opt for a different powertrain.

It will compete against hybrid SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. With its impressive mileage, excellent features, and SUV-inspired design, it could be an attractive choice for consumers. New Hyundai 7-Seater SUV

Hyundai is preparing to launch a new three-row SUV for the Indian market. According to reports, this model is codenamed ‘Ni1i’. It is expected to be positioned between the company’s Alcazar and Tucson models, though its official name has not yet been revealed.

This new SUV is expected to feature three rows of seating, offering ample space for families. It is anticipated to come with a strong hybrid engine, although the company has not yet confirmed this. Further details regarding engine options, launch date, and features are currently awaited.

Kia Carnival Hybrid

The Kia Carnival Hybrid will be a premium MPV, designed for those who require more space, comfortable seating, and high-end features for a large family. Reports suggest that pre-bookings for the vehicle may open ahead of its official launch.

It is expected to be equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 180 PS of power and 265 Nm of torque, while the electric motor generates 73.4 PS of power and 304 Nm of torque.

In India, it is expected to be offered in the top-spec ‘Limousine+’ variant. In terms of features, it may include dual digital displays, Level 2 ADAS, heated and ventilated power-adjustable seats, a 360-degree camera, and eight airbags.
