EV two-wheeler company thieves: In the year 2022, the Ministry of Heavy Industries received complaints of violation of guidelines by OEMs registered under the FAME-II scheme. The ministry investigated 13 companies, out of which 6 electric vehicle manufacturing companies were found guilty. The companies violating the norms include Hero Electric Okinawa Autotech Benling India Energy & Technology AMO Mobility Greaves Electric Mobility and Revolt Motors.
Theft in FAME-II scheme
In the year 2022, the Ministry of Heavy Industries received complaints of violation of guidelines by various original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) registered under the FAME-II scheme. It was alleged that they were selling electric vehicles in violation of local sourcing requirements and were engaged in large-scale import of vehicle parts.
Names of these companies
The ministry investigated 13 companies, out of which six electric vehicle manufacturing companies were found guilty. The companies violating the norms include Hero Electric, Okinawa Autotech, Benling India Energy & Technology, AMO Mobility, Greaves Electric Mobility and Revolt Motors.
Only 3 companies returned the money
Of these, AMO Mobility, Greaves Electric Mobility and Revolt Motors returned the subsidy amount along with interest within a few months and got a clean chit from the government. However, Hero Electric, Okinawa Autotech and Benling India did not return the incentive amount and as a result they were removed from the FAME-2 scheme.
Ministry took action
Speaking to PTI, a senior official said that the registration of Hero Electric, Okinawa Autotech and Benling India has been canceled. After that the next step is to lift the ban from all schemes of the ministry, which has been done for Hero Electric and Benling India. Okinawa has not been banned, as they were in court at that time.
