Kia said in a statement that the side curtain airbags on the affected units of the Seltos may open without any accident. The Australian spec Seltos is powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine tuned for 148 bhp and 180 Nm of peak torque.

Kia said in a statement that the side curtain airbags on the affected units of the Seltos may open without any accident. The cause of the problem is said to be a manufacturing defect, which may distract the driver. Apart from this, there is also a risk of injury and major road accidents.
What did the company say?
Kia Australia wrote in its recall notice, “Due to a manufacturing defect, the side curtain airbags may open without any warning. Inadvertent airbag opening may distract the driver and increase the risk of injury or death to passengers.”
Free repair
Kia said owners of the affected vehicles should immediately contact their preferred Kia dealership and schedule an appointment to get the curtain airbag checked and replaced free of cost.
