Toll Rate Hike: Major setback for vehicle owners. If you frequently travel between Lucknow and Kanpur or Unnao, the recent changes in toll rates by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will directly affect your expenses.

This new development will impact motorists using the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway and the Nawabganj toll plaza. According to Project Director Nakul Prakash Verma, the toll charges have been raised just before the expressway starts operating. Let’s break down how much toll each type of vehicle will now need to pay.

The updated toll rates for different vehicle categories for one-way and return journeys within 24 hours are as follows, as per the latest list from NHAI:

– Cars, jeeps, vans, and SUVs: One-way toll is now Rs 290, and return toll within 24 hours is Rs 440.

– Mini Bus and LCV: One-way toll is set at Rs 470, and return toll within 24 hours is Rs 710.

– Bus and heavy truck: One-way journey costs Rs 990, and return journey within 24 hours costs Rs 1485.

– Three-Axle Commercial Vehicles: Rs 1080 for one-way journey and Rs 1620 for return journey within 24 hours.

Prior to the opening of the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, the toll for four-wheeled vehicles was initially proposed at Rs 275. Shortly before its launch, this toll was raised to Rs 285, and now, under the revised rates, it stands at Rs 290.

These revised toll rates are applicable at the NHAI-operated Nawabganj toll plaza and the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway in Lucknow. On the other hand, the Mampur Intauja toll plaza on Sitapur Road and the Dakhina Sheikhpur toll plaza on Rae Bareli Road are managed by private companies through tender processes.

This well-equipped expressway is equipped with over a hundred state-of-the-art cameras, and patrol teams will be on hand around the clock to monitor your movements. Devices like “vans” installed along the expressway allow you to contact the control room within seconds.

“VAN” devices, powered by optical fiber cables, have been installed at designated distances. In case of an emergency, passengers can directly contact the control system through this device, and a patrol team will arrive within minutes to provide assistance .
