Tata Safari EV: Tata Motors is preparing to introduce its flagship Safari EV to the Indian electric car market. The electric version will retain the identity of the existing Safari. According to reports, the Tata Safari EV could be launched during the 2026 festive season, specifically around Diwali. It is expected to be priced higher than the Harrier EV. The Tata Safari EV will be the company’s upcoming 7-seater electric SUV, featuring a premium cabin, a large battery, and advanced EV technology. It is likely to compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S and MG Hector Tomahawk EV.

Safari EV Design

The overall design of the new Tata Safari EV is expected to resemble the current Safari. Test mules have been spotted heavily camouflaged, yet they clearly reveal their upright stance and three-row SUV proportions. However, the front end may feature a closed-off grille, a new bumper, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and distinct lighting elements. At the rear, Tata is likely to retain its signature connected LED lighting theme.

Cabin

The interior is expected to be one of the Safari EV’s standout features. Spy shots suggest the possibility of a triple-screen dashboard for higher-spec variants. While the current ICE Safari offers a dual-screen setup, Tata has previously showcased a triple-screen layout in models like the Sierra and Sierra EV.

Additionally, features such as a panoramic sunroof, a digital inside rear-view mirror, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, powered and ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, and multi-zone climate control are expected.

Comfort

As a three-row electric SUV, the Safari EV will likely place significant emphasis on passenger comfort within the cabin. It may come equipped with a premium JBL audio system, ambient lighting, and connected-car features. Ventilated captain seats might also be available for the second row, although the final seating configuration could vary depending on the variant.

Battery and Range

Regarding the battery, options of 65 kWh and 75 kWh packs are anticipated. Some reports also suggest the possibility of a larger 80 kWh battery. Due to its greater weight and size compared to the Harrier EV, the Safari EV’s range might be slightly lower. The top-spec version is expected to offer a real-world range of approximately 600 km.

V2L and V2V

The Safari EV is likely to feature not just a large battery but also several new EV technologies. It is expected to come with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing the SUV’s battery to power external electrical devices.

Additionally, Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging technology could enable energy transfer to other compatible EVs. The Safari EV may also include features such as OTA software updates, smartphone remote functions, a digital key, and Tata’s ‘Arcade.ev’ connected suite.

Level 2 ADAS

The Safari EV is expected to come equipped with various advanced safety features. Under Level 2 ADAS, it may offer features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking.

Furthermore, it could include a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, and multiple terrain modes. Reports also suggest the inclusion of a 540-degree camera and up to seven airbags.

Launch and Price

The Tata Safari EV is expected to launch in India around the 2026 Diwali festive season, although Tata Motors has not yet announced an official launch date. Regarding pricing, the Safari EV is expected to have an ex-showroom price range of approximately ₹22 lakh to ₹32 lakh.
