Tata Aeris:- Tata Motors’ compact sedan is set to receive a facelift, but it may replace the ‘Tigor’ nameplate with ‘Tata Aeris’. Intriguingly, a trademark filing for the name ‘Tata Aeris’ has surfaced, lending further credibility to these reports. However, Tata Motors has yet to officially confirm that the new sedan will launch under this name.

Reports suggest a potential launch date of September 25, 2026. The new compact sedan could replace the Tigor and be called the ‘Tata Aeris’. It is expected to debut with an all-new design, features similar to the Tiago, petrol-CNG powertrains, and an EV version.

Tata Aeris New Design

Regarding its design, the exterior of the new Tata Aeris has already been revealed through design patent images. These images clearly indicate that Tata has worked on both the front and rear sections of the sedan. The new car may feature slimmer headlamps and a cleaner front profile compared to the outgoing model.

The front bumper has also been redesigned, incorporating sharper lines and a larger lower air intake. Detailing such as a glossy black connecting element could lend the front end a more modern appearance. The side profile is expected to feature new alloy wheels, while the rear may sport redesigned tail lamps and an updated bumper.

Tata Aeris New Cabin

Significant changes are expected in the interior as well. The cabin of the new Aeris could borrow various design and technology elements from the recently updated Tiago. It is likely to include a large 10.25-inch touchscreen, an updated digital instrument cluster, and a new steering wheel.

The new Aeris is also expected to feature wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and wireless phone charging. Additionally, amenities like a 360-degree camera, Type-C charging ports, and electrically folding ORVMs could make this compact sedan more feature-rich. Tata may also introduce major safety upgrades, with the new sedan expected to come equipped with six airbags.

Tata Aeris Petrol and CNG

As for the engine, the new Aeris is likely to retain the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine delivers approximately 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. In the CNG version, the output is expected to be around 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm.

Regarding transmission, both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT options are likely to be retained. This suggests that instead of making major changes to the engine, Tata might focus on design, features, and overall positioning.

Additionally, an electric version named ‘Aeris.ev’ is expected to be introduced. However, official details regarding its battery pack, range, specifications, and launch timeline have not yet been revealed.
