Subhadra Yojana: Numerous states have introduced programs offering direct financial aid to empower women economically. Among these, the Odisha government’s Subhadra Yojana has gained significant attention over the past two years. This initiative is not only the largest women’s welfare program in the state but also stands as one of the country’s most substantial in terms of the number of recipients and budget allocation.

The Subhadra Yojana, initiated in September 2024, aims to boost women’s financial independence and integrate them into the formal banking sector. Qualified women receive Rs 10,000 annually, distributed in two Rs 5,000 installments, totaling Rs 50,000 over five years. The funds are directly sent to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts using Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for transparency and easy access.

Eligibility criteria are in place for women to benefit from the Subhadra Yojana:

– Must be a permanent resident of Odisha
– Age between 21 to 60 years
– Family’s annual income within a set limit
– Possess an Aadhaar-linked bank account
– Not an income tax payer
– Not employed in the government sector

Women with a family income below Rs 2.50 lakh annually qualify for the Subhadra Scheme, targeting those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. It is crucial that no member of the applicant’s family pays income tax, as this disqualifies them from the scheme. The Subhadra Yojana plays a vital role in empowering women by offering financial support.

If anyone in the woman’s family pays income tax, they will not be eligible for this scheme. Under the Subhadra Scheme, the government aims to empower economically vulnerable women. Benefiting from this scheme is helping women meet their basic needs.

Under this scheme, eligible women can receive a total financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over a period of five years. The government will provide Rs 10,000 every year, which will be credited in two equal installments of Rs 5,000 each. The financial assistance will be transferred directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and timely payments. The scheme aims to benefit more than 1 crore women across the country by providing direct financial support.
