Stock Market Holiday: Important update for investors and traders in the Indian stock market. This week, the market will be closed for three consecutive days. Additionally, there will be no trading on the domestic stock market tomorrow, Friday, June 26th. Both major stock exchanges, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will be closed today, Friday, in observance of Muharram.
Due to the market closure on Friday, followed by the weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday, traders will enjoy a long weekend this year. This means the market will be shut for three days in a row. Regular trading will resume on Monday, June 29th. Previously, the market was closed on May 28th for Bakrid, marking this as the second market holiday in about a month.

Total of 16 trading holidays
For the year 2026, a total of 16 trading holidays were planned, with nine already passed. Following Muharram, the stock market will be closed on six more occasions throughout the remaining months of the year. The next holiday after Muharram will be in September, indicating that there are no additional market holidays in July and August.
Will MCX also be closed today?
The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will not be entirely closed today. The morning session (9 AM to 5 PM) will be closed, but the evening session (5 PM to 11:30 or 11:55 PM) will remain operational. Commodity traders can continue their trading activities as usual during the evening session.
Remaining holidays for the year 2026

After Muharram, the stock markets will be closed on the following dates in the remaining months of the year:
14 September (Monday): Ganesh Chaturthi
2 October (Friday): Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti
20 October (Tuesday): Dussehra
10 November (Tuesday): Diwali-Balipratipada
24 November (Tuesday): Guru Nanak Jayanti
25 December (Friday): Christmas
This year, four major festivals fall on Saturdays or Sundays, and therefore, no separate holidays have been declared for the market. These include Mahashivratri (February 15) and Eid al-Fitr (March 21), which have already passed. Independence Day (August 15, Saturday) and Diwali Lakshmi Puja (November 8, Sunday) also fall on weekends.
