South Africa needed 18 runs to win in the final over. Prasidh Krishna bowled a yorker off the first ball, giving no runs. The second ball was a slower delivery, and Corbin Bosch, attempting a big shot, was caught by Rohit Sharma. Bosch was dismissed for 67 off 51 balls, giving India a 17-run victory.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets, Harshit Rana three, and Arshdeep Singh two. Prasidh Krishna got the breakthrough in the final over. For South Africa, Marco Jansen, Nandre Burger, Corbin Bosch, and Ottniel Bartman took two wickets each.
Chasing a massive target, South Africa got off to a poor start, losing three wickets for 11 runs. Matthew Breetzki and Marco Jansen then tried to stabilize the innings, but both were dismissed in the same over. In the end, Corbin Bosch’s quickfire fifty raised hopes, but the team failed to secure victory. The second ODI will be played in Raipur on December 3.

In this match, Virat Kohli scored his 52nd ODI century, becoming the player with the most centuries in a single format. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 51 Test centuries. Rohit Sharma also broke Shahid Afridi’s world record for most sixes in ODIs by hitting a six off Marco Jansen. Rohit now has 352 sixes to his name.
