Special medio messege by Cameron Green after joining KKR in IPL 2026 auction

Australian batting all-rounder Cameron Green was expected to be the most expensive player in the IPL 2026 auction, with a dozen players sold. Kolkata Knight Riders purchased him after a lengthy bidding war for ₹25.20 crore. Interestingly, Kolkata also acquired Mathisha Pathirana for ₹18 crore. However, according to the new IPL rules, Green and Pathirana will only receive ₹18 crore.

However, according to the new rules, the highest retainership price for foreign players cannot exceed ₹18 crore (180 million rupees). Therefore, Cameron Green, Pathirana, or any other foreign player can only earn a maximum of ₹18 crore (180 million rupees).

Green surpassed compatriot Mitchell Starc (Rs 24.75 crore) to become the most expensive foreign player at the IPL auction. This came after a fierce bidding war between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings, with the latter emerging victorious.

KKR also acquired Venkatesh Iyer, but withdrew from the race against Royal Challengers Bangalore, who bought the India all-rounder for ₹7 crore. The three-time champions entered the race to acquire Pathirana after Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants withdrew following intense bidding between the two franchises.

Pathirana, who entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore, became the most expensive Sri Lankan player sold in the IPL auction. Green, who previously played for the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, has played 29 IPL matches so far, scoring a total of 707 runs and taking 16 wickets.
