Star players of Pakistan are facing a tough situation in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL 2025-26). Ahead of the season star, Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi appeared as one of the major attractions of the league. But his first match was far from a memorable account.
Why Shaheen Afridi removed from bowling attack?
Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi’s debut match in Big Bash League 2025-26 was very bad. This Pakistani bowler was removed from bowling in his very first match. Actually, Shaheen was playing his first match for Brisbane Heat in BBL. Shaheen’s bowling against Melbourne Renegades was very poor. Shaheen gave away 43 runs in just 2.5 overs, not only this, after bowling two dangerous high full-tosses in his third over, he was stopped from bowling further.
According to the rules of cricket, if a bowler bowls two dangerous full tosses in the same over, he is not allowed to bowl any further. This rule prevented Shaheen from bowling further. The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the 18th over of the Renegades’ innings, when Shaheen bowled a high full toss, forcing left-handed batsman Oliver Peak to duck.
The ball also deflected off wicketkeeper Jimmy Pierson, allowing the batsmen to take two runs. Although Afridi immediately apologized, the on-field umpire removed him from the bowling after consulting with Nathan McSweeney.

Shaheen was then brought back into the bowling attack in the 13th over, but he didn’t fully find his rhythm, conceding 19 runs after being hit for a six and two fours. In his third spell, Shaheen completely lost control and was stopped from completing the over. Speaking of the match, the Melbourne Renegades, batting first, scored 212 for 5 in 20 overs.
