The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is just 10 days away. Ahead of that, two teams have suffered major blows. Two key teams of the tournament , Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), have suffered a major setback before the tournament begins. Star Australian all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland have withdrawn from the league due to personal reasons.

Perry’s absence will be a significant loss for RCB, as she was a key player in last season’s champion team. The team has signed Indian all-rounder Sayali Satghare as her replacement. The 25-year-old will join RCB at a reserve price of ₹30 lakh. She has played three ODIs for India, taking three wickets at an average of 35.66. Similarly, Delhi Capitals have signed Australian leg-spinner Alana King in place of Sutherland.

King was part of the UP Warriors last season and will now represent DC at a reserve price of ₹60 lakh. She has taken 27 wickets in 27 T20 Internationals at an average of 18.81 and an economy of 6.49.

Left-arm medium pacer Tara Norris has also been ruled out of the tournament. She has been selected for the US national team for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers, which will be held in Nepal. As a result, the UP Warriors have signed uncapped Australian all-rounder Charlie Knott for ₹1 million.

From when the new edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will start in 2026?

WPL 2026 will begin on January 9th and run until February 5th. Matches will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. The playoffs and final will also be held at the Kotambi Stadium.
