The 32nd match of the Indian Premier League 2025 ended in a tie, with Delhi Capitals defeating Rajasthan Royals in the Super Over. The match was filled with excitement. For the first time in IPL 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) imposed a penalty on a member of a team’s support staff for violating the Indian Premier League’s code of conduct.

The IPL has fined Delhi Capitals’ bowling coach Munaf Patel. He was also given a demerit point for not following the code of conduct, and a fine of 25% of his match fee was imposed.

Argument with the Umpire Leads to Fine for Munaf Patel

The IPL released a statement saying, “Munaf Patel accepted the Level 1 offense under Article 2.20, which relates to conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. Munaf accepted the match referee’s punishment.” However, the IPL has not clarified the exact nature of the offense.

It is speculated that Munaf Patel had a heated argument with the fourth umpire during the match. A viral video on social media shows an exchange between Munaf Patel and the umpire. This is not the first time in the 18th season that Delhi Capitals have faced action. Earlier, the team’s captain, Akshar Patel, was fined Rs 12 lakh for a slow over-rate after their sixth match against Mumbai Indians.
