IPL 2025 Captains list: There are still about two months left for the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to begin, but so far, only seven out of ten teams have announced their captains. Three teams still have yet to reveal their captains. Lucknow Super Giants became the seventh team to announce their captain for IPL 2025, placing their trust in Rishabh Pant. Pant, who has previously captained the Delhi Capitals, is also the highest-priced player in the IPL.
Before Lucknow, the Punjab Kings announced the captain of their team. PBKS appointed Shreyas Iyer as the captain, who led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last year and even won the trophy with them. Meanwhile, five teams have retained the same captains as in IPL 2024. These include:
- Mumbai Indians: Hardik Pandya
- Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad
- Gujarat Titans: Shubman Gill
- Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson
- Sunrisers Hyderabad: Pat Cummins

Which Teams Have Not Announced Their Leaders Yet?
As for the teams that have yet to announce their captains, they include:
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
- Delhi Capitals (DC)
- Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Currently, the reasons behind these teams’ uncertainty remain unclear. RCB faces a dilemma, as Virat Kohli is the only big name available. KKR, on the other hand, does not have a previous captain, while Delhi could consider a dual captaincy arrangement. There is also speculation regarding Rishabh Pant possibly being Delhi’s new captain. Additionally, KKR could hand over leadership to Ajinkya Rahane.
