India won the 3-match ODI series vs South Africa in style. They won the last match by 9 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored century in this match. After the match, head coach Gautam Gambhir picked up two players who can be the next superstars of Indian cricket.

Gautam Gambhir mentioned two specific batters

Gautam Gambhir said, “We all know that Ruturaj is a great player. His performance against South Africa A was excellent. That is why we wanted to give him a chance in this series. He utilized this opportunity well. In the second ODI, we were under pressure after losing 2 wickets for 40 runs. Coming to that situation, he scored a century. This is his ability.”

Regarding Yashasvi Jaiswal, Gambhir said that this is the beginning of Jaiswal’s career. He is a talented player, and we have all seen what he can do in Test cricket. Gambhir said that both Gaikwad and Jaiswal will get opportunities. Both have bright futures. Captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer were unable to make it to the South Africa ODI series due to injury.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also got the opportunity to open the innings with Rohit Sharma due to Shubman Gill’s absence. Jaiswal was dismissed cheaply in the first two ODIs. In the third ODI played in Visakhapatnam, he scored his first ODI century and was named Player of the Match, scoring 116 runs off 121 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. With this century, Jaiswal joined the list of Indian players who have scored centuries in all three formats.
