Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) did not retain veteran all-rounder Andre Russell for IPL 2026. As soon as KKR released Andre Russell, it was said that he could attract a high bid in the auction. Although Andre Russell has retired from the IPL, in the meantime, he has set a world record in T20 cricket that any player will struggle to break, as no one is even close to breaking it.

Andre Russell’s incredible T20 record

Andre Russell has become the first player in the world to score more than 5000 runs, hit more than 500 sixes and take 500 wickets in T20 cricket. There are many players in T20 cricket who have scored more than 5000 runs, taken more than 500 wickets or hit more than 500 sixes, but only one player has this achievement. Former West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has become the sixth bowler in the world to take 500 or more wickets in T20 cricket. Before Russell, Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, and Shakib Al Hasan have achieved this feat. Russell is third in the list of most sixes hit in T20 cricket, with only Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard ahead of him. However, he lags far behind in terms of wickets taken.

However, Andre Russell ranks 25th in the all-time list of highest run-scorers in T20 cricket. Russell has scored 9,508 runs in T20 cricket so far. However, if we combine the numbers to see if any single player has amassed more than 5,000 runs, 500 wickets, and 500 sixes in this format, only one name will appear on the list: Andre Russell, who is currently 37 years old. He has retired from international cricket and is active only in various T20 leagues around the world.
