SBI Stree Shakti Yojana: If you’re a woman entrepreneur aiming to launch a new business or grow your current one, the State Bank of India (SBI), the largest public sector bank in the country, has an excellent scheme for you. The main goal of SBI’s “Stree Shakti Yojana” is to empower women entrepreneurs by promoting self-reliance through financial support.

This scheme provides loans with flexible terms for businesses in the manufacturing, trading, and service sectors. Additionally, women benefit from special interest rate discounts on these loans.

Let’s break down in simple terms how much loan you can access through SBI’s scheme, the interest rate discounts available, and any specific conditions that apply.

What is the loan amount you can receive?

Based on your business requirements and financial status, women can secure loans of up to ₹25 crore under this scheme.

Working Capital and Term Loan: This loan can be utilized for everyday business expenses as well as for acquiring long-term assets or machinery.

Bank’s Assessment: The final loan amount is determined by SBI after assessing the applicant’s eligibility, business plan, and financial situation.

Credit Rating: For loans exceeding Rs 2 crore, the applicable interest rate may be tied to the applicant’s credit rating.

A special discount of 0.50% on the interest rate

To support women entrepreneurs, SBI provides interest rate concessions through this scheme. Women can enjoy an interest rate discount of up to 0.50% (50 basis points) on loans up to ₹2 crore, which significantly lowers repayment costs for women-owned businesses.

However, the final interest rate and any additional charges are set according to SBI’s current policies, so it’s advisable to verify the exact rates at your nearest branch before applying for the loan.

Annapurna and Shringar Yojana will boost women entrepreneurs’ businesses.

SBI also has specialized loan schemes under its “Stree Shakti Initiative,” designed to meet the unique needs of women in various sectors. The Annapurna scheme specifically provides financial assistance to new or existing businesses related to catering, restaurants, tiffin services, and food products.

On the other hand, the Shringar Yojana provides women entrepreneurs in the beauty parlor, beauty salon, and wellness sectors with loans on flexible terms to expand their businesses, purchase beauty equipment, and improve infrastructure. Both schemes are designed to empower women to become self-reliant and economically empowered in their areas of expertise.

Repayment and margin money terms

The loan repayment period depends on the size of the business and the type of loan. The repayment period for a term loan can range from 7 to 10 years. Depending on the loan amount, the bank may require a margin of 15% to 25%. This means that the applicant must contribute a portion of the total cost, while the bank provides the remaining amount as a loan.

Keep these things in mind before applying

If you’re applying for a loan under this scheme, have your Business Project Report (DPR), KYC documents, financial records, and accurate accounts of your available margin money ready. Before applying, be sure to inquire with a bank official about interest rates, processing fees, and other service charges.
