Renault Triber Turbo: Renault is preparing to add a turbo-petrol engine to its 7-seater MPV, the Triber. According to reports, Renault could launch the Triber Turbo by the end of September 2026. With this new engine, the company aims to position the Triber not just as a family MPV, but as an option offering superior power and performance. It will also come with a factory-fitted CNG option, making the MPV even more capable and practical.
1.0-Litre Turbo Engine
Starting with the engine, the new Triber Turbo is expected to feature a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Codenamed HR10, it is derived from Renault’s 1.3-litre HR13 four-cylinder turbo engine. This turbo engine is also used in the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
In the Kiger and Magnite, this engine delivers about 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque. If the same tuning is retained for the Triber, it will offer about 28 hp more power and 62 Nm more torque compared to the current naturally aspirated engine.
Manual and CVT Options
In the Kiger and Magnite, this turbo engine is available with both a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. However, it is not yet entirely clear whether Renault will offer these same transmission options for the Triber Turbo.
If the company offers a CVT alongside the turbo engine, the Triber could become a very convenient and comfortable option for daily city driving. On the other hand, the manual version would appeal to those who prefer a more direct and engaging driving experience.
Factory-Fitted Dual-Cylinder CNG
The Triber is set to offer another major feature: a factory-fitted CNG option. Renault plans to utilise dual-cylinder technology for this CNG setup, with both cylinders positioned beneath the boot floor. Since boot space is crucial in a family MPV, this placement strategy offers clear benefits for daily usability. Price
Regarding pricing, the Triber’s cost is likely to increase due to upgrades such as a turbo engine and a factory-fitted CNG kit. Currently, the Renault Triber is priced between approximately ₹5.81 lakh and ₹8.53 lakh (ex-showroom). The new turbo-petrol version could be priced higher.
