The budget 5G smartphone arena is fiercely competitive, but Realme has consistently carved out a space with devices that punch above their weight. The newest contender, the Realme C73 5G, arrives with a bold claim: to deliver a premium design and smooth performance without breaking the bank. But does it live up to the hype, or are you just paying for a shiny exterior? We break down the facts.
First Impressions: A Design That Belies Its Price
The most immediate standout feature of the Realme C73 5G is its design. Borrowing aesthetic cues from far more expensive phones, it features a glossy, vegan leather back panel that provides a surprisingly secure and premium grip, a welcome change from slippery glass or fingerprint-prone plastic. The large, circular camera module is a clear statement, making the phone look significantly more costly than it is. For users who prioritize style, the C73 makes a strong first impression.
Performance: Everyday Tasks and 5G Readiness
At its heart, the Realme C73 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. This is a capable processor designed for efficiency and 5G connectivity.
For daily use: The phone handles everyday tasks like social media browsing, messaging, streaming video, and light gaming with ease. The 120Hz refresh rate display is a significant upgrade in this segment, making every swipe and scroll feel incredibly smooth and responsive.
For gaming: Don't expect to run Genshin Impact on max settings, but popular titles like BGMI or Call of Duty: Mobile are playable at moderate graphics settings. The focus here is on a lag-free experience for common apps, not hardcore mobile gaming.
Camera Capabilities: Good Enough for Social Media
The Realme C73 5G sports a dual-camera system headlined by a 50MP primary sensor. In well-lit conditions, the camera captures decent photos with good color saturation and adequate detail—perfect for sharing on Instagram or WhatsApp. The 8MP selfie camera also performs adequately for video calls and selfies.
However, as with most budget phones, low-light photography is a challenge. Images can become noisy and lose detail. The 2MP depth sensor assists in portrait mode, which does a fair job of edge detection.
Battery Life: All-Day Endurance
Equipped with a 5000mAh battery, the C73 is built to last. For the average user, getting through a full day and well into the next on a single charge is easily achievable. The 45W SUPERVOOC charging (a charger is included in the box) is a massive benefit, allowing you to top up the battery from zero to 50% in just about 30 minutes, mitigating any battery anxiety.
The Verdict: Who Should Buy the Realme C73 5G?
The Realme C73 5G isn't trying to be the absolute most powerful phone in its category. Instead, it carves a niche by offering a stunning design, a buttery-smooth 120Hz display, and reliable 5G performance.
