Ration Card Rules: Big news for Ration Card holders. All individuals listed on ration cards will now need to periodically visit the PDS shop to collect their rations by providing their thumb impressions. If a member’s biometric verification fails for an entire year, their name will be removed from the ration card. Previously, once KYC was completed, there was no need for further updates. However, this rule has now changed, and people must stay alert about it.
Everyone must provide their thumb impression within a year
Officials from the Food Supply Department state that if a ration card includes five members, then all family members must collect their rations by providing their thumb impressions within the year. If only the head of the family or a single member collects the rations, the KYC for the other members will not be updated, which could lead to their names being removed. Therefore, all members listed on the card should make time to collect their rations and provide their thumb impressions to ensure their KYC is updated. Additionally, PDS shopkeepers have been given strict instructions to update the KYC for all beneficiaries.

What did the DSO say?
Speaking on this matter, DSO Pankaj Kumar explained that if a ration card contains the names of five members and for some reason, the biometric verification of any member is not done for a year, their name will be deleted. Therefore, continue submitting biometrics.
Dozens of workers of the FCI godown protested on Friday against the supply of ration of the central and state government from different godowns. They said that after the implementation of the new Direct Door Step Delivery (DSD) system of the government, around 200 workers of the SSFC godown have faced an employment crisis. Earlier, the grain was brought from the FCI godown to the SSFC godown, where the workers used to do loading-unloading and supply to the dealers. The sudden implementation of the new rule of the government has made them unemployed and financially helpless.
