PMAY-U 2.0: The primary objective of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 is to provide permanent houses to urban poor and middle-class families. This new phase of the scheme was launched in September 2024. Over the next five years, the government aims to provide permanent housing to eligible urban families. Under PMAY 2.0, each housing unit will receive government assistance of ₹2.5 lakh.

The scheme is expected to benefit approximately one crore urban poor and middle-class families across the country over the next five years. The government has also extended the deadline for the original PMAY-U mission to September 30. The main aim is to complete the construction of houses that are currently underway and to release pending government funds. PMAY-U 2.0 Eligibility 
PMAY-U 2.0 caters to those with an annual income of up to ₹9 lakh. Additionally, the beneficiary must not already own a permanent house. If you have not applied yet, you can apply for this scheme and realise your dream of home ownership.

Documents required for PMAY-U 2.0
To apply for the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme, applicants must possess the necessary documents. Requirements include an Aadhaar card, the Aadhaar cards of the beneficiary’s parents, and the beneficiary’s income certificate, among others.

Subsidy available under PMAY-U 2.0
An interest subsidy of up to 4% is available on loans of up to ₹8 lakh for a maximum tenure of 12 years. Loans of up to ₹25 lakh can be availed for properties valued up to ₹35 lakh. A maximum subsidy of ₹1.80 lakh will be provided, disbursed in instalments over five years.

How to apply for PMAY-U 2.0
To apply for PMAY-U 2.0, you must first visit the official portal. Next, click the ‘Next’ button to go to the next page.
Then, click on the ‘Proceed’ button.
Your eligibility will be verified, and you will need to fill in all the requested information.
Thereafter, you must enter details regarding your documents, such as your Aadhaar card.
The application form for the interest subsidy scheme will then open.
Fill in all the required details in the form and click on ‘Save and Continue’.
An application ID will be generated during this process.
Once all verifications are complete, you can download the acknowledgement slip for future reference.

Number of houses constructed so far:
For your information, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, over 1.25 crore houses have been sanctioned under the PMAY-U scheme so far; of these, the construction of more than 1 crore permanent houses has been completed, and they have been handed over to the beneficiaries.
