PM Surya Ghar Yojana: The government has come up with a major plan to promote the central government’s ambitious “PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.” The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched a special digital tool for this purpose, “Get Solar in 60 Secs.” With the help of this interactive platform, citizens of the country can now understand the complete mathematics of installing a solar plant on their rooftop within just one minute.
Since the launch of this program, more than 5 million households have been able to generate their own electricity. This new digital tool will make the process of installing solar systems even easier.
How does the ‘Get Solar in 60 Secs’ tool work?
The tool is very easy to use. Users simply need to enter a few basic details:
Step 1: Enter your name, phone number, state and district name.
Step 2: Enter your previous month’s electricity bill and approved load using the slider.
Step 3: The tool will then instantly provide you with the correct solar plant capacity (kW) for your home, the total cost, government subsidy, and bank loan availability and its interest rate.
This tool will also show you the estimated lifetime savings.
Direct contact with vendors on WhatsApp and AI chatbot ‘SUNtosh’
The platform also displays a list of certified vendors registered under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Users can contact the vendor directly via WhatsApp or call to begin the solar panel installation process.
Apart from this, the government has also recently launched a WhatsApp-based AI chatbot named ‘SUNtosh’ on June 4, 2026. This chatbot provides users with real-time information on subsidies, application processes, and solutions to common problems directly on WhatsApp.
This scheme is very important for saving money as well as for the environment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on February 29, 2024. Its goal is to install solar systems on the rooftops of 10 million households and provide them with up to 300 units of free electricity per month. The aim is to achieve 30 GW of rooftop solar capacity by fiscal year 2026-27. Over its lifetime, the scheme will generate 1 trillion units of clean power and reduce 720 million tons of CO2 emissions.
